Hello, well apart from Congratulations if you're getting married, or having a Civil Partnership the first thing to say is how pleased I am you are here and reading this. If I could make you a cup of tea (or pour you a glass of wine) I would.
People ask how I would describe my self. Well, I am very caring, open-minded, fun-loving, a little bit quirky, and some people might say a bit of a hippy at heart. I love to think a little left-field (running a youth theatre certainly taught me that!). I grew up in rural Sussex, had 16 sheep, 4 cats and the occasional goat for pets, so I love animals and the outside.
My parents were travel writers in the 70's so I was lucky enough to spend much of my childhood traveling Europe in our faithful old campervan with mum, dad, and my three siblings. I love photography, cooking, travel and the unconventional. I am ecologically minded with roots in farming and animal welfare.
Why I am a Celebrant
That’s an easy one. I simply love people’s stories. Whoever you are, where-ever you are from. People's stories/journeys fascinate me. We are all so different and every story is completely unique. From the first time you both met, the proposal, where you are today and where you hope life’s journey will take you.
I love hearing what dreams and ambitions you have – however big or small. I just cannot get enough of it. You know that feeling when you read a book and you cannot put it down, or you listen to some music and the beat just goes through you… well, that’s how I feel when I meet my people and get to know them.
Getting to know you...
Getting to know you is essential. After all, I am going to be the one guiding you through one of the most important days of your life. This does not change whatever the ceremony is. I will meet you in person, at least once, and am always at the end of a phone, email, WhatsApp/Skype. I know you will have questions and other thoughts you may want to discuss after we first meet. This is a journey for us both.
Weddings / Civil Partnerships / Renewal of Vows / Naming Ceremonies
Planning and writing your ceremony is special and does not happen overnight. Having learned about the things that are important to you I love just letting the ideas and creativity run free. We can bounce ideas around – however crazy or traditional.
Celebration of Life / Funeral
Being asked to be your celebrant for a Celebration of life/Funeral is a huge huge honour and responsibility. I pride my self on my caring nature and my own life experience that helps me to understand your grief. I will work with you to create a commemoration that you know your loved one would have loved.
Summary
As your Celebrant I will be there every step of the way, to support and guide you and keep you calm (18 years in complementary medicine comes in handy!).
